The Golden Holo Sticker Cards
One of the most common vintage bootleg card types, that we can easily find on the wild, are the Golden Holo Sticker Cards. What's so special about them? We are very sure that those were one of the first type of vintage bootleg holo sticker cards released.
Not the first, but one of the first. The cards consist of a piece of cardboard with International back, with a sticker on the front. These stickers have a different holo patterns. The yellow border of the cards looks golden because of the holo-effect. That's why we call them that way.

They seem to be Taiwanese products, like most of the other popular vintage bootleg we know about. Only Classic sets were printed as a Golden Sticker. We never saw any set after the Rocket set made as a Golden Sticker. The cards don't have massive changes, they are just copy's of the classic sets. The only difference being (and of course that what makes them interesting) the fact that they are holographic stickers .
To complete these sets is going to be difficult and would take a long time. We can't be sure that our collections are incomplete, or that simply some cards were never printed as a Golden Sticker. A good (and sad) example of this are the Venusaur and Charizard cards from the Base Set.
While Blastoise pops up from time to time, we never, ever, ever saw or met someone who had seen a Golden Sticker of Venusaur or Charizard from Base 1. In the large amount of collections around the world, we never ever got any notice of them.
So, at this point, we can assume that they were never printed, because...who knows what reason? The fact is that this also happens in the other sets. The fossil version is complete, but is missing some cards with the holo numeration. From the Rocket set some commons and uncommon Pokemon cards, as well as trainer cards, have never been spotted in the wild.
Since the intention of this thread is to give an overview of the Golden Sticker in general only, we are not going into detail about the set's cardlists or so. Talking about it's distribution, we have at least one thing confirmed: the booster packs. Probably not as you would imagine, but they're still booster packs at the end of the day. Take a look:
Also, I pulled a few cards from these packs, which contained a mix of vintage bootleg cards and holo sticker cards.
But the first type of boosters contain only Golden Stickers. I like to call those "true packs" of golden stickers. One thing to mention here is that I saw the "Laser Sticker" label and packaging before with different holo sticker cards from Pokemon, as well as Digimon and other pictures. Hope to have pics of that soon .
"True packs" don't seem to have any relation between the card which shows up on the front and the set which is in them. It's completely random. The amount of different holo patterns on the Golden Stickers is large. So of course cards can be found with different holographic patterns.
That's all everybody! Hope you liked this small article. See you around!
